The heavenly scent of Christmas cookies drifted through the marmalades house. Harry had pulled the Vanillekipferl out of the oven

His wife, Lauren, was checking the jam filled cookies. She counted them, 4, “hmmm, who ate one?” she said, turning round to the children. “Jack, what are you eating” Lauren asked. “Huh?” Jack said, looking as if he had been caught doing something he should not have been doing. “Jack” sighed his mother, frowning at the half-eaten cookie in Jack’s hand.

“Sorry” he mumbled, handing her the cookie, “You might as well eat it” said his mother. “Look at my ginger bread man!” cried Chloe.

“It’s lovely” said both parents, ”Now we are going to bake them and after that you can decorate them, with sugar icing and lollies” added Lauren. Harry put them in the oven to bake.

What do you want for Christmas mommy?” asked Chloe. “A broom” replied her mother. “Oh bother” said Chloe when she knocked over her block tower

Thirty minutes later Harry took out the freshly baked and cooled Gingerbread men and set them on the table for the children to decorate.

Chloe, Kyra and Jack decorated their gingerbread men with lollies and sugar icing.

When the icing had dried Lauren placed them in the cookie box, “Christmas cookies done” said Kyra.
